Meaningful ChristmasesTime really flies.
We're reaching the end of 2005!!!
Haha, i still remember, in my primary school days, I get a feeling of anxiety when a year passed
93! -->94! -->95! --> 96!--> blablabla
I never fail to dread the counting down since young.. It seems like with each passing year, I'm getting older.
I'm nearer and nearer adulthood, and more responsibilities are being heap on me as I grow older.
And thus the anxiety.
My thoughts are stilled lagged behind in the 90s.. I still think that i live in the 90s, where the Singapore economy is always doing well, people did not worry too much about terrorists, mass-killing diseases do not come up year after year.
what?!?!?!?!?
It's now the end of bloody
2005! We're going into the 2nd half of the decade already?!?!?!?
Oh gosh.
Maybe sometimes I'm still in a state of self-denial. I live in the 90s, I'm as responsible for my life as a kid, the world is still that warm little place, where my family is close, my primary school friends can do all the stupid things with me, and school always seem a breeze (except for ART ok?). However, at the same time, I'm relishing the freedom of the near-adult, being able to go out without restrictions from the family, spend my own money in wateva way i wat.
Maybe I'm like everyone. Wanting the good points of adulthood without ever really wanting to take up the reponsibilities as well. hahahaaha
Hey today is X'mas eve! It's a time to celebrate Christmas!! It's the time of living and loving!!!
It's the festive period!!!
Yeah rite.
Christmas, to me, has little meaning, as least for now, except it being another holiday. Yup, the lightings will be there in orchard, the weather will be that little bit colder than usual, the sounds of 'jingle bell, jingle bell" will jingle all the way everywhere.. and set up a real festive mood.
It will be nice if u have someone to pei u walk thru the lightings and the jingles, and immensing urself in that atmosphere.
But there's a small problem: i don't have that someone!!!
So, it's another dreaded festive season for me!!! But nvm, i'm quite used to it already haha
However, there were years where Christmas was a little more than my usual online-until-countdown at home.
Remember that was one year Weichang invited me, Wendy, and Anmei to the CHC's Christmas celebrations at the kallang indoor stadium. Ok, admist those criticisms of certain people (ta men shi shui? 5,4,3,2,1!!) of CHC, i wanted to see them in action for myself before I pass any comments. That was a real eye-opener!!! For the first time, I've seen the celebrations of X'mas in the place where it's real meaning lies.. a church.
(Ok, the place wasn't a church but it's a church celebration anyway, don't be that eager to criticise can?? haha)
Well, I might well say I'm quite astounded by the love of God by the harvesters. They celebrate and praise God full of energy and happiness. One could sense that they really celebrate with their hearts and souls. However the tongues (dunno how to spell) was abit scary though. However, I take everything with an open heart and it was quite an eye-opening experience!!
Then, one year, the 4dees spent christmas at Andy's house.
The 4dees (at least that near-20 of us) i knew was so united, and we never fail to have that warm-little-family feeling when we were together.. hope to haf a larger class outing soon.
We exchanged presents (and there's a game whereby u're supposed to guess who gave u the present thru wat he/she wrote to you, so funny hahahaha) at the rooftop balcony. Everyone was having fun, with me particularly remembering ChongLiang's laughter.. haha it will go off like some cartoon character.. herherhhheeheehrehreeheehe hahahahaa
Then Andy (or his parents) was super generous! They bought a turkey and some red-wine and we shared.. Then at nite, it was our usual stuff.. Some played Fifa at andy's comp, some watched tv, some played PS on andy's tv and some of us talked at the balcony.. everywhere was buzzing with everyone's voice.. how i missed those times!
Then, for one chalet ard christmas i think, 08 also did that exchange present thingy! It was 2003!! hahahaha i got a white t-shirt from RX! Can't remember who i gave a present.. think it was some soft-toy from watson! sorry ah rx! I like that t-shirt but seldom wear it nowadaes.. it always gets crumpled and i'm lazy to iron it hahahaha
Then that same year I had someone with me hahaha Erm dun exactly remember where did we go on X'mas day itself, but the most memorable part was going to bugis a few days before. Although the place there is quite small, the festive atmosphere was evident. It feels gd being one of the many couples there, shopping with no apparent reason, and just walking around, listening to the christmas songs. The best part is that we just sat there outside Macdonalds near the water fountain, enjoying the decorations, atmosphere, and watching on as all sorts of people walk by, soaked in the festive mood.
Well those are fond memories!!
Erm.. for this year, guess I better stick to the 'standard'. Online til countdown finish!!!
*sObz*
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!
