Hmm think I've not like posted pictures up for a long time?
Normally it's because when I feel about blogging about certain events but I do not have the picts, and by the time I get the picts, the events are like waaaaaaaaay over.
So? Seldom update about my life lor.. upload picts very mafan de ok.
Attended Baochuan's 21st Birthday party on fri night!
When i reached, it was around 9pm!
Super pekcek as I took 143 from Sheares Hall. It wrote there 'Jurong East Int', it really went there, but AFTER TURNING ROUND AND ROUND!!
I knew it when I saw Teban Gardens, the famed house of Xiaxue, "the armpit of Singapore".
Wanting to take a cab, I can't even find one at Jurong East! I then went to take MRT to Bukit Gombak. Then took a $3.70 cab =.=
When I reached the chalet, everyone was in like virtual 'highness"!
GREAT deco
Take photo leh!
Then all did the "squat down" thing, leaving me stunned. But me being the quick, smart and agile Bing De, squatted down quick too
illegal Bangla immigrants (look at Serene's face! =PpPpP)
-_-
HAHAHA everyone kept laughing and laughing! Must be on drugs
We then tried these trick and Baochuan, leaving her stunned. (Cos not as quick, smart and agile like me mah =P )
As I reached like quite late, soon it was the cake-cutting.
US!
Great Hello Kitty cake
After that we got into some spraying madness
(Will upload the video after I get it)
It was short, but really fun.. Really let out all the exams stress! (Although I didn't have any stress to begin with =P)
6 more days before the last paper commences on 3rd May, so I'll take a break first.. Movies, soccer, teo heng and DOTA! LAI AH!!!!
Exams have been a lot easier than I expected (ok I know I expected it to be easy in the first place, but it was even easier than easy! Go figure yourself). Except for my SS i guess. Questions easy, but my time management and points are rather not there. =(
Anyway, in University, there's always this irony regarding the difficulty in exams.
Too hard? People will go around complaining, shaking heads, and murmur endless repetitions of CHUI CHUI CHUI.
Too easy? "Aiyo too easy liao lar. Everyone sure score very high one. Like that the bell curve will.... "
In the end? Still same. Chui.
....
In an ideal world, the 'ideal' level of difficulty should be zhun zhun low enough so that the max of your knowledge can answer, but at the same time, high enough so that others will not know how to answer.
Undergraduates can never be happy, can we?
So, just don't care and worry only when the results are released.
If really chui, please repeat the word as many times you want =)
Actually got many things I wanna blog about.. but well, this is the mugging period and I'm not SUPPOSED to blog.. no energy also lah.. I rather spend my time watching 13 strokes and the dancefloor lol.
What am I up to these days?
Guess?
YES, you're right.
MUG.
Have been mugging with Pearl at the Perk Point these 2 days.. Well, actually this sem is really slack.. exams coming and I don't feel the stress at all.
Econometrics seemed hard initially but after reading through the notes seriously for the first time, they all seemed easy.
Philo.. Haven't go to watch ANY of the 'nuts-and-bolts' webcast.. Exam's open book MCQ, so go figure.
Microecons? Erm MCQ with few short answers.. Think this will require more time, but again, not as tedious as Soci or PS or Chinese last sem.
SS - Think I know almost everything required on Singapore politics.. plus my daily surfing of political blogs it should prepare me well enough.. Just need a refresh reading and the technique to answer the qns properly.
Malay? 3rd May.. Long 6 day break from the previous exam. Can study later. Anyway I've memorised like almost everything I need to memorise for the oral test last monday. Sangat susah meh?
Yup - so a slack study week for a slack sem. Given this effort, what's the probability of getting into the long-awaited DL?
While cynics (including me), will scoff at the move, saying it hypocritical ,in my opionion it's a smart, smart political move.
Who expects it to come from the PM's altruism anyway?
But by doing this, it seems that he had gained the upper hand on the opposing voices - who is saying that what he does is for his own benefit.
$0.6 million per year is quite some money - no matter whether you are rich or poor, it takes something worthy for one to part with it.
By sacrificing this amount of money, he (literally) bought some serious political capital.
This is the first time in a long, long time since a politically-savvy move was made.
Especially so when the newspapers would surely publicise this move and give it plenty coverage. Trust me, letters in the forum (dunno from who) will start praising this move.
Today was the 2nd day of the debate on the rise of ministeral and civil servants' salaries.
Well, I won't bore with you the details (I believe most of my friends don't give a shit about politics anyway).
These are some interesting observations:
1. Ah tiongs go to watch Parliament too (!!!) And they couldn't understand a shit the malay police told them
Police: "Empty your pockets"
AT: "OK"
Police scans.
"BEEP!"
Police searches.
Wallet in pocket. =.=
"Dia tak faham lah", dikata polis-polis. =P
2. One certain MP always sleep in Parliament (not bad for $13,000!) (Ask me if you wanna noe =p )
3. The ministers can really speak.. and they have an aura when they speak. (Is it that they are ministers because they have an aura, or is it because they have an aura because they are ministers?)
4. Teo Chee Hean (our 'boss' for our many years in the MOE then the SAF) speaks real well, debunking arguments with a smile effortlessly.
5. Lim Swee Say is damn impressive in the way he speaks. This is the first time I heard people speaking convincingly and passionately despite badly-pronounced English. Despite it being long and ponderous, the honest touch and convincing tone he had made the whole House engrossed in his speech.
6. Denise Phua is the first non-minister I've seen to speak with such conviction and passion - mostly against the hike somemore.
On a lighter note, I FINALLY SAW EUNICE OLSEN TODAY!
In the Parliament, I think only her and NMP Cham Hui Fong are 'lookable' women
Oh yah, last point:
7. PAP woman MPs look either like men or overaged Ah Lians. +_+
Hmm, also at night, went to watch TMNT with Pearl and Patrick. So glad that this show is still on!
Well, the show's plot is good, but the presentation techniques and the pace of the show pretty sucked. Boring start, very dubious pace of plot development, and an overly abrupt ending. Think the director is a rookie perhaps?
But nonetheless, it's great to see the turtles in action again! TMNT was my favourite childhood cartoon! Also, the graphics were impressive as well. (kinda reached the WCIII cinematics standards) Too bad they didn't play the TMNT cartoon music =(
Well, while I'm all for Singapore being constantly injected with new things to make it 'hip', I'm not too sure about the latest Grand Prix plan.
Firstly, I must say I'm not a F1 fan at all. In fact, I can't understand why people watch F1 anyway.
On TV, maybe. You get to follow the excitment as the race develops?
If it's live, I can't understand. I can imagine sitting at ONE SPOT of the entire race.. All u see? Cars and cars zooming past you.
More significantly, other than this personal indifference to the F1 race, there are reasons why I'm not sure if it will be really worth it to host such an event, despite the apparent 'buzz' it grants to Singapore.
Well, looking at the route, the Grand Prix does not really run in some isolated circuit, but in the heart of the city.
Isn't the city crowded as it is? Do we still need to close these roads?
Then, it would incur massive costs, time and energy (most probably of the poor NSFs who are SUPPOSED to train to defend the country, and not to do these stupid stuff) to build TEMPORARY stands along these roads (and then dismantle them).
You can't expect the city to be laden with these stands along its roads permanently right?
Also, I'm not sure how it will burn the public roads. Didn't we just gave them a massive makeover for the IMF meeting? Do we have to re-lay and re-paint them everytime after the races?
The smell of burning tyres in the city does not excite me either.
Most importantly, I've seen cars crashing and tumbling over the tyre fences. Erm what are the buildings lining up along these roads?
I'm not too sure if I want to see Mclaren and co. crashing into Suntec City or the Esplanade.
