I have not gotten the photo then.. Me and Shiping at the dinner!
She seems to be a mix in being happy and sad in hall.. Gotta talk to her more i think
Singapore 0 China 0

First time in my life I had to queue, squeeze and sweat in the horrible crowd to get a ticket into a Singapore football match.
You can't see it in the picture, but the 'queue' ( we would call it cluster-f***) stretched all the way to the end of the long wide stairs down the stadium, and it's apparent how many Singaporeans and our 'dear' Chinese Nationals there, all vying for a ticket to enter.
The tensions were pretty obvious. Both sides wanted to win eagerly. And I don't mean just the players, I mean all the fans. For Singaporeans, we all know the reason. It's not politically correct to say it, but we're really SICK of the HUGE number of their presence in Singapore. We do not mind being friendly with them on the individual basis, but seeing the sheer large number of them, all in their brash and unrefined mannerisms, really makes us feel SICK.

Series of abuse could be heard easily in the stands.
“中国鸡!”, “回家啦!”,“鸡掰啦, 中国队!”
You name it, we have it.
For the Chinese side, the reason is pretty obvious too. After suffering from all the implicit discrimination in Singapore, with their own pride and arrogance, they want to thrash Singapore, as afterall, they are one of the football powerhouses in Singapore.
One set of Chinese fans had the audacity to parade the China flag on his shoulders, and walk through the Singaporean crowd! And being Singaporeans, we're just too nice. We simply stood up, and booed them.. Can you imagine what would happen if we were in Italy?
To the ah-tiongs: We're nice, but don't get over our heads. We'll bite back.
Contrary to The Newpaper's report of more Chinese fans than Singaporean fans, I beg to differ. From where I sit, clearly I see more Singaporean fans than Chinese ones, despite them dominating the grandstands. In the gallery, where the majority of the fans are sat, it was no fight.
Anyway, I'm out of the Sports Club MC. After getting into the committee, I fought for the post I desired, which I lost, not wanting to commit to something I think I wouldn't enjoy, I came out of the committee altogether.

shuping and grace
Great to know people like Jasper, Yousi, Dong Chou, Janice etc.. Although I did not acheive anything tangible from the burnt weekends, I learnt a lot about human relations and I do not regret the time 'wasted'.
Lastly, Singapore is a garden city!
Look at those beautifully-planted plants leading to Suntec city!!! Singapore welcomes the world!!! Welcome to our garden city!!!

My room in my hall.. Well, I've only moved in for like 2 weeks, and I'm just pure lazy to carry things in, the things I have in hall is really, well, 简陋。I'm too lazy to bring in snacks, tidbits, posters, and stuff like that.. So, I just have my clothes, my bathing equipments, my lappie (must have!) and some notes and stationery. Hopefully but tonight I could bring in my TV liao! I miss watching TV variety show, dramas and of course the news! Feel so disconnected with the rest of the world nowadays, forever swimming in my sea of mental-torturing notes.
Yah, I live in Sheares Hall Block E No E209. Got time come and visit me!!
Speaking of hall life (not much of one for me though), sheares hall had this formal National Day Dinner in our great CANTEEN, where we all had to dress up formally to sit in a lok cok environment.
As I did (and still do) not know a lot of people in Sheares, I had few people to talk to. These are my neighbours..
From left, Gunnar from Germany, Soon Leong, me, and Bazil from Switzerland.

This is Joyce, my 'date' for the dinner, and I know her through Charlene, my O-wk CG mate. Well, the fact that we're both from AHS made it a lot easier to talk and have the 亲切感 =)

This is Weicheng of AHS and TJC, whom I know through the Sports Camp. Two schools same leh! Live Bedok somemore. Too bad we live different block though =P
It seems that I took a lot photos, but reality, that's about it LOL
(I think I can count of my fingers the people I know in Sheares Hall)
And of all people, I forgot to take with Mr CHUA THIAM HAO! hahaha shows how sian I was.. despite the smiles you see in the photos.
(Gahmen say must smile mah.. now September le leh! Must smile even more!)
And it was held on the 31st of August.. when it's the National Day!
Of Malaysia.
Well well, how stupid can it get.. We just sat down and eat in the restricted seating arrangement in our great CANTEEN with the CANTEEN utensils, bowls and cups.
After all the eating, we went to the hall for some speech, of former shearites and of course, they included Mr Lee Yi Shyan, the MP of my area.

Well, he sounded like a nice guy, and it was refreshing that I hear a MP breaking away from the usual serious stuff and PAP rheotoric to say his own experiences in NUS and Sheares Hall.
But for the next elections for East Coast GRC, you know who will I vote for lah lol.
Also, it was nice to see the son of ex-President Benjamin Sheares.. But he is no young lad.. he looked above 80!
Although I like the idea of the whole Hall gathering together to celebrate National Day, then lack of familiar faces and the fragmented (in cliques) nature of the whole Hall body makes it not really enjoyable, and it was nothing like the gathering in orientations and in my old schools.. the feeling was just missing.
Maybe it's just me but perhaps really, not knowing people makes it hard for me to be tuned into hall life.. let's see how it goes bah.
Lastly, 3 days ago, Saturday, after a gruelling external elections from 8am to 6pm, I BARELY got elected into the NUS Sports Club Management Committee.
I knew I got quite low votes, maybe due to the controvesy over what I said in THAT Straits Times article regarding orientation camps, or my speech was simply not good enough. I think it was a bit of both bah.
But it was heartening when someone from a sports sub-club told me in the toilet that he voted for me, and wanted me to stay honest when asked about my opinions. I really thank him for that, as it gave me a HUGE encouragement over deciding what's right and what's wrong.
Well, that's it. That was how 'eventful' life has become. Sometimes I miss those days in camp when we just sleeeeep the whole day, only to worry about what time is nights off, when we can go cheong our dota at the great LIMBANG.
Internal elections will be held this saturday, and I would know my post by then.
Watch out for this space! =)
