I went to PS on the 26th, a monday, to watch The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (CON)
It was my first movie in ONE YEAR!!! Can you believe it? I can't.
The movie I've watched prior to this is 2046. (thiam and geng rem? hahahaha!)
It was sooooooooooo bad that i don't even want to talk about it.
I must say this movie is great and i'll give 4.5 stars out of 5 for this one.
For some reason, I'm mesmerised by the way the Brits speak their English, their accent sounding funny and cute, yet cultural in their own way. Coupled with the scenes of knights, queens, castles and forests, the accent blended in perfectly.
The British way of speaking English has that kind of old-fashioned charm to me, something their American (sorry Soon Bing!, hahaha) couterparts can't hold a candle to.
This story has an impressive storyline (great work by CS Lewis, author of the book), with the kids dicovering the world of narnia through the wardrobe in the Professor's house and subsequently leading good over evil.
All along, I knew that the 'good guys' will triumph over the 'bad guys'. However, CON brings out the kid in you and I was watching as the story unfold like a kid, hoping that the good guys will defeat the bad guys.

Also, I was totally mesmerised by Lucy (far right)!! That girl was just so so so so cute. She has that innocence of a child, and she brought out her character reeeaaaallllly well. She has this magical ability to make people smile when she smiles, and feel heartache when she cries. Great future for this girl definitely. Susan (left, duh) was quite chio too, and I'm sure I saw her in another film. Anione care to enlighten me?
The computer graphics were also stunning, giving life to the creatures and beasts. I was impressed by those beasts (of the 'bad guys). They really seemed like blood hungry and evil.
Despite the denials of the film-makers, it was obvious that the story had biblical inferences. Aslan to Jesus, the Witch to Satan, Edmund to Judas, the 2 girls (Susan and Lucy) discovering Aslan's resurrection (familiar?) to the 2 women who discovered that Jesus' tomb was empty. That's the slight disappointment. I don't like hidden agendas behind simple story plots meant for children. It should stay the way it is - simple.
Still, a very good movie. :)
The Chronicles Of Party World: The Fruits, the Tidbits, and the Towels
Today, I went to Party World at loyang point with Cecilia and James. He got a free 4-hr voucher from Party World and jioed us to go. Reached there around 2pm, the time it was planned to start. Then I was told that by our dear James that it opens at 3! That's James' planning for you.
Well, it was the usual sing-along, with James particularly liking to sing woman songs, and of cos, Jay Chou, and one cute song called Jih Ba Ban (One million in Hokkien)! Me picked the usual David Tao (too bad they don't really know the songs), Wang Li Hong and Jay Chou songs to sing. Cecilia also sang over a variety of singers, namely Fish Leong, Jolin, Landy, Ah-mei, Yang Chen Ling and 7 FLOWERS! hahahaha i can't believe it. 7 FLOWERS? u gotta be kidding. hahaahahaha Got some duets as well, which makes the atmosphere not bad.
However, the funniest thing is the receipt.
It read:
Fruits - $6.80
2 x tidbits - $7
3 x towels - $2.70
KOD (some copyright stuff) - $1.50
Bubble Tea - $8.50
2 x cold drinks- $15
10% service charge - $4.15
Total: $45.65
Yes! After that free 4-hr voucher, it costs $45.65 for 3 people to sing! That's $15 per person.
Fruits = one slice of water melon and one slice of honeydew, cut to a few pieces
Tidbits = One plate of prawn crackers and one plate of dunno-wat (James says it costs 50cents outside.)
Towels = normal face towels.
Check back at their prices! It was a definite rip-off.
And they gave us a nice little present. Another free 4-hr voucher!
A great way to attract you to get cheated again eh?
Think whether u wanna go to Party World and enjoy these GREAT offers and vouchers next time.
I don't.

Hahaha it looks nice and well thought. A rainforest on stage.. Wonder how many camo nets they use.. haha and that blue thing in the middle, is a freaking helicopter!
It's 8pm (the stipulated starting time) and people are still streaming in! Typical Singaporeans.
But ha we thought. Taiwanese too! Then, we saw some media people (with passes hanging on the chests) ushering two old folks to their seats.. That back looks familiar!
Oh gosh! It's David Tao's father, Tao Da Wei! (and his wife, mother tao) He's sitting in the same row as me! (thanks dav_ten for the wonderful wonderful 4th row seats!!! VVIP seats leh)
Then we saw, Sly, Cavin Soh (of dreamz FM and Daqiu fame), and Olinda Cho! Didn't know Ou Xuan was there! Otherwise sure take photos with her one, chio bu! haha
Then there was Richard Liu (liu qian yi)! He came with his daughter, i think. Didn't know you like david tao! you've got taste, Lao Beng! haha
Then with some hesitation, we went up and ask for Tao Da Wei's autograph.. The result of not being shy.. a nice poster with his autograph pasted on my bedroom wall. He's not that famous, at least to us, but well, you only live life once, i told myself, and i wun lose anyting having his autograph on the concert poster.
heh heh.
Ok the story is supposed to begin with david losing control of his helicopter and dropping down on this rainforest.

Then HE APPEARS!!!!! The whole crowd went crazy!!! And he began belting his familiar tunes

Zhao Zi Ji, Jin Tian Mei Hui Jia etc that brought up the party atmosphere and some nice little sentimental songs.
Airport at 1030 and Ai Wo Hai Shi Ta (Can he see TAAAA~~~~~ from his mouth haahahaha)

After the red shirt part ( I dun haf the pics) He returned with Ghost! (particularly impressed with Kewei's Erhu skills, keep it up girl!), Dear God, and Hei Se Liu Ding, with a tinge of prayer in them. The crowd was high and touched at the same time.
Next it was the unplugged session! Three very simple but touching songs Pu Tong Peng You, Er Shi Er, and Wu Yuan. Particularly like Er Shi Er! So meaningful.

Ai Hen Jian Dan, i love this song, but abit sad though. Everytime he sings this song the concert ends! And truly, he goes back to the backstage!
We suspect it was over (the lights were still in 'concert mode' though) and everyone shouted 'encore!! encore!! encore!!'

And he returns!! (i thot the costume was abit sui bian though ahaha) with Wang Ba Dan!!
He then sang Butterfly. He told us that a fan wrote to him, telling him that he/she wanted to commit suicide, but after listening to this song, it gave him/her strength and he/she dropped that idea. The crowd was touched. This is a testimony of david's music, it's not just for entertainment, it reaches out to touch ur heart, ur soul.
The concert ended with love around, David using the song Jiu Shi Ai Ni to thank everyone associated with the concert. With "Xie Xie!! Thank you Singapore!!!", he left the stage, much to the disappointment of the fans.
But hey!! All good things must come to an end rite???
I've enjoyed the concert!! David once said, it isn't important to remember how good he sang, or how good the band played. It's the love that we bring back that is most important.
Well, i had all three! David's singing and stage presence was great, the band seems to enjoy themselves so much, and the 'prayer for the world' feeling of Ghost and Dear God left a deep, deep impression on me.
Thot that was the end?
I got a nice surprise the next day, from a newspaper I seldom read.
No, neither did I get his TE HOU underwear (i'm not gay), or I've LUAN MO him (told u i'm not gay!)
We were in the newspaper!!
Haha we're the ones waving the lightsticks
Left to right: Me!, Xinhong, Rayner, Weichern
See ya in two years' time, dave!
