Valentines' DaySo.. tomorrow's Valentines' Day huh?
Yes of course I'm acting blur here.
It's impossible to ignore this date, isn't it?
February the 14th is that kind of date which will invoke two totally opposite reactions. Either you're very excited by it, or you totally dread it.
No prizes for knowing whether I'm the former or latter!!
Haha.
For couples, it's a reminder of how lucky they are to be in love. Despite all the stupid quarrels and childish spats along the way, this is a day for them to put aside all unhappiness and re-affirm their 'undying' love for one another.
Couples would surely love this day. The supposedly 'special' date at a 'special' place, the extra effort your one would put in on those cutie presents, and not forgetting the atmosphere spelling 'love' everywhere when you walk along the roads and see couples everywhere. It just feels so good to be one of them, isn't it? Love is in the air when you're in love!
The downside however, is the burning sensation in front of your thighs.
(I know you're thinking dirty my friend!)
This kind of special date with special presents at a special place showered by special flowers gurantee that you have to pay a special price for it.
Love is in the air I know. But so is the smell of burnt pockets!
Especially for guys I think. For those rich guys who still take money from their parents, of course it's ok.
You can spend lots and lots of your parents' money and make your girl fall head over heels for you.
For poor guys? headache, headache.
Although we are in an era of so-called 'gender equality', some things just never change. For Valentines' Day, it's rather impossible for couples to go Dutch - for special occasions like this, the guy OUGHT to pay for everything... whoo imagine the burden on your average HDB dweller!
So on the positive side, I have no such problem this year! haha
Well, on the other hand, people who are single who be reminded of their singlehood. Not that singlehood is neccessarily a bad thing, but seeing people get excited over Valentines' while you have absolutely no plan just feels a little disappointing.
Personally, I'm quite against going out with friends on this day.
oh 14th Feb is also known as friendship day?
Just a term coined by singles to comfort themselves!!
Christmas out with friends? Sure, it's a day of loving and sharing!
Valentines? Sorry no, it is the day for couples (or potential ones)
It is a special day, but yet you have to act as if it's just another day.. is it possible?
Before I end, just thought that I would share something with you.
Well, I've never celebrated Valentines' before.
(huh? how is this possible? thought you had a girlfriend during that period?)
Yes of course. But guess what?
February the 14th 2004 was the start of my bloody BMT FIELD CAMP!!!!
One more reason to add to the long list of why I freaking hate the A R M Y.
Thank you very much S A F.
