Some rest.. finally.

Today is Monday, the first day I've been really able to settle down and sort out my thoughts for the past two weeks or so.

Well, just straight after quitting from Lenovo, it has been quite a hectic time for me, or perhaps everyone going through the same stage as me.

31/07/06: Matriculation day

Met Patrick to go to NUS. Quite happy that I finally got officially matriculated into NUS.. have been waiting for two long years.. The moment I got my matriculation card, I knew that was it. It was confirmed I was going to be a NUS student for the 3, if lucky, 4 years to come.

Well, I was bombarded by the numerous CCA booths and I must say I became interested to quit a no of them. Sports club, Democratic Socialist Club, NUSSU, Capieora, Arts Fac Com, Economics Society are all I'm considering... headache.. I want to have fun but I want to mug!

01/08/06: Talks on major programmes in FASS

Well, all the lecturers were selling their own subjects, but everything sounded quite interesting. Be it geography, sociology, economics, or political science, everything sounded like fine subjects that required a lot of thinking, something I like to do a lot.

Luckily, I'm quite determined to major in Economics, but if doesn't work out, I can always try something else.

Just a little wary of the wordy modules though. It is because I remembered history and C.Lit being the two subjects I was interested in, but always most uncertain of, in terms of results.

I hope the results can match my passion for intellectual thinking this time round.. if not, CHUI.

04/08/06:

All of a sudden, the arts O-wk started. I only had two days of rest!!

Really wanted a full week of rest before the commencement of proper lessons, but guess it was not meant to be. Still feeling the inertia of wanting to rest before going back to school, I forced myself to come to this O-week, as I knew it was hard to know friends from my fac once cliques are formed... without friends, studies will be hard, sian, and really really meaningless.

Well, the first day was rather hard.. Everyone started out as strangers, so it's quite hard to socialise to know each other again. The guys were friendly, and that made it easy for everyone to talk and know one another.. common topics of soccer, NS, JC and what modules were we taking were aplenty.

But erm erm, for the girls side, they were rather reserved, save for the councillors. It's was rather a huge contrast from the sports camp and I'm rather not used to it. Some even put on make-up and wore jeans + high heels to come and play games!!

The councillors tried to be fun, but it's a pity they had fun amongst themselves instead of trying to engage the freshies in having fun with them. That made it hard for the freshies to feel participative (if there is such a word) in the bonding.

Well, we played some games in the afternoon, after learning all the bidding nonsense in the morning.

stupid mingguang face

As usual, we walked around the school and played some games.

Night time, we are splited into 4 trails for our games, namely, Stupid, Brainy, Dirty, and Muscle trails.. I'm glad I chose the Brainy trail cos I'm a clever boy! It was quite fun la haha

But I was really impressed with my House IC, Chong Han. He was a really charismatic leader, and he could really entertain and lead the house with his charisma and smile.

And rightly so, at the end of the day, he was clearly disappointed with the house when he de-briefed us. Our house were still very reserved and not in the mood for orientation camps, and most have quite a lacklustre body language in them.

But well, I left with optimism that everything would be better once we get more comfortable and familiar with one another.

05/08/06: Not-so-amazing race

That day was a saturday.

Well, believe it or not, it was the name of the race, and not me trying to add a cynical adjective to the game.

For my OG, the attendance were rather pathetic, be it freshies or councillors. Only about 9 or so came, and some were missing for some parts of the day.

For the first part, only around 8 of us were in the mascot making, and having less people, we actually took quite a short time to finish it... in the end, the 'Racerwoman' was born.. too bad I don't have the picture of it though!

The from 2pm it was the commencement of the Not-so-amazing Race.

Well, for me, in this kind of races is not really about the race itself, but for the OG to bond during the travelling time.

Erm, it was not bad la, despite our small size, we had mobility!

First stop, outside clementi central 7-11, where we had to finish the food they had for us before a stipulated time. It concluded a whole pack of cream crackers, plus a hell lot of biscuit products and soft drinks! Eat so fast until wanna puke. And Carrie really puked! But we won eventually despite our small size, with some cheating of course. heh.

Then, we went to harbourfront, and play a game then required the mixing of colours. We were blindfolded, the guys got painted in the chin and the girls, knee.

We had to mix some colours by well, rubbing the colours to another person's. I was blindfolded, and din noe wat was going on.. until... the last one. Which the three guys had to rub chins with one another when we went blinded! rrgh.. gay. haha

And it was damn hard to find the Wallys in the whole of harbourfront shopping centre level 1 and 2, and we wasted a lot of time.

Then, as I was late to move on to queensway shopping centre, the game was already finished when I reached.

After the 3 stations, we went back to NUS forum, where we climbed through a damn dirty trail before we water-bombed our House ICs.

I then left early to go to Tampines to collect my new David Tao CD!

07/08/06: Talks + Freshman Inauguration Ceremony + Fright Night

I'm glad I came late at 10am, as the morning part was dominated by boring talks, and I only caught the AIM Spa talk and the call-back card talk, which I found the former quite interesting.. I might going to the Spa next time.

Afternoon time, it was the Freshman Inauguration Ceremony.. Well, it was quite fei la, and to think that I brought a long-sleeve shirt + pants + leather shoes for it!

But but but.. I was quite keen on Resonance though.. I love acapella!

Also, great to see so many people, like Qing Yun (from Lenovo), Geok Soon (from BMT) , Brian (from AHS), Andy (from Hikari Musicz) and Justin (from TJC).

Night time, it was the fright night, which we waited such a long long time to go in for 5 mins.. zzz..

But but but, was damn happie I finally got to watch 'The Maid'!!

The movie was, not bad, and only scary because June was on my left, and Vivian on my right.. never knew Singapore movie so high-tech one! Got surround sound effect one!! The screams just came at the right moment to make me scared haha

(That was how long we waited.. can even finishing watching a movie!)

The fright night was not bad, and I really appreciate the effort put up by the OC to create this for us.. but my partner not scared de, so not fun! haha

08/08/06: Ponned Flag Day

I ponned Flag day to pass Rayner his CD, and to send the CD to Weichern in Australia as well, well.. I needed the rest after the hectic days.

09/08/06: Haircut

Went to cut hair with Junwei, and went for our first hair treatment... it was so fei la!! Well, the haircut was... normal. $40 leh. Wasted $. I promise myself I would never go again hahahaha..

10/08/06: Sentosa Day!

As I did not want to go to NUS at 8.30am just for bidding in the morning, I went straight to NUS, meeting Charlene and Joyce. It was great knowing Joyce that she is from AHS!! And she's a friend of Chee Ching and Peiqing! The world is small indeed.

Well, Sentosa's never not fun. We had fun at each station, and of course the standard rountine of throwing people into the water.

Night time, it was speed dating.. well, always heard from people it's lame. Erm it was indeed lidat. But well, luckily, all the 10 girls I've met are friendly, and great to know that some are taking the same modules as me... especially Chinese Language! Glad to know people from another house, and some were from AHS and/or TJC as well!

11/08/06: Last day of 0-week: War Games and The Finale.

Well, I skipped the morning war games (again!) as I can't wake up (reached home at 12.3oam the previous day).. I went for the Econs major talk at 11am, and joined up with the rest for lunch after that.

Then, we practised the item we're gonna peform for The Finale. Everybody wasn't the 'damn on' type, but all managed to do their part for the skit.. so, it was fun.

The Finale was held in our favourite LT-duuno-wat, and I must say I saw some amazingly funny performances. As usual, ablaze was damn creative and damn good!! Ours, rollin, was not bad, turn-on ok, and speedy arrgh... bad to worse. haha

I was a little sad in the finale, as all the fun and all the great personalities I've seen in camp have to come to an end... It was not a damn fun camp, but the friendship I've made was invaluable.

My OG tonned almost the whole night, going to Holland V to eat and returning to NUS to play drinking games.. It was fun, but shagging.

12/08/06: RAG Day!!!

RAG day is super cool man.. Every faculty and hall with their float and dance, and almost all are of damn high quality.. The dancers in their colourful customes and the really nicely-made floats was a really a true celebration of youth and dynamism of the NUS population and the whole place was in a carnival mood.

some of my OG guys and gals

The only disappointment was the small no. in the Arts fac.. where the hell are the campers? Where have they gone?

Despite winning nothing, I was proud of the Arts raggers who really spent a lot of time on the float and dance.. Great job guys!

After that, my OG went to Jurong East KFC to eat, which we talked and played some lame guessing games.

After everything, I went straight down to the chalet with our colleagues, and it was great talking to everyone again.. I missed every single one of you!

It was quite paiseh that I slept alot, as I did not really sleep the previous night.. I was too tired la haha.

But it was fun though, when we played all the drinking games.

13/08/06:

Left the chalet and I slept the whole day!!!!

This week, the lectures will start le.. I only have one more day to rest!!

Hope my rusty brain can get into motion soon man..

I still wanna play!

I don't want to study.. sobz.
